THE SORB TREE (Sorbus aucuparia or domestica)
Sorb and corm are derived from two different shrubs: The first is extracted from the sorb tree on which the sorb grows in clusters of globular red berries.The second is extracted from the corm tree whose cluster has a more pear-shaped appearance and remains green for longer.So as not to confuse consumers, the result is that the brandy from these two fruits remains of very comparable organoleptic and gastronomic quality. Its originality and rarity justify its often rather high price.
